Work Permits & LMIA

Employer-specific, open, or LMIA-backed — the right permit class for your situation, evidenced properly on both sides.

Who this is for: For workers with a Canadian offer, new graduates, spouses — and the employers hiring them.

LMIA, from the employer’s side

Labour Market Impact Assessments demand real recruitment efforts, correct wages and clean paperwork. We prepare employers for what Service Canada actually checks — before the file is opened.

Compliance that protects everyone

Employer non-compliance carries penalties and bans, and workers pay the price too. We keep both sides inside the rules — it is the only version of this work worth doing.

Worker applications, complete

Job offer, qualifications, proof of funds and ties — assembled to answer the questions an officer will ask, in the file itself.

Open permits and PGWP

Post-graduation work permits, spousal open permits and other LMIA-exempt categories each have precise eligibility windows. We confirm yours before a deadline quietly closes it.

Status, maintained

Extensions and changes of conditions filed on time keep you working legally while a decision is pending. We calendar the deadlines so your status never lapses by accident.

Family on the same timeline

Spouses and children have their own options tied to your permit type. We file the family together so nobody is left waiting on a separate, forgotten application.

The journey

How this application actually runs

  1. Situation review

Your offer, qualifications and status — mapped to the permit categories that genuinely apply.

  2. Employer stage

Where an LMIA is needed: recruitment, wage and compliance groundwork, then the assessment itself.

  3. Permit application

The worker file — evidence, forms and biometrics — submitted inside or outside Canada as your situation requires.

  4. Decision & beyond

Arrival or activation, conditions explained plainly, and extensions calendared before they are urgent.

Straight answers

Asked before, answered honestly

If your situation doesn't fit these answers, that's exactly what the free assessment is for.

How long does an LMIA take?

Service Canada publishes processing times by stream, and they vary widely. The recruitment period beforehand adds weeks of its own. We quote the current published figures for your stream when we scope the file — anyone quoting one flat number is guessing.

Can I change employers on a closed work permit?

Not without new authorization — a closed permit ties you to the employer named on it. There are proper processes for changing jobs, and in some situations special measures for workers in difficulty. Talk to us before you resign anything.

What is an open work permit and do I qualify?

An open permit lets you work for almost any employer without an LMIA. They exist only in specific categories — post-graduation, certain spouses, certain programs — each with its own current rules. We confirm eligibility against today’s policy, which has tightened recently.

My permit expires soon. Am I too late?

If you apply to extend before expiry, you generally keep your conditions while the decision is pending — timing is everything. Contact us with your expiry date and we will tell you plainly what is still possible.
